But ohhh, what a first week that was! Now, anytime I need to grind up 18g of coffee beans, I’ll get about 3g into the cup and the rest stays within the machine and it grinds to a halt. Using the brush and little metal stick they give you to rummage around inside the spout doesn’t do the trick, but I DO have grinds all over the kitchen now trying to clean this $250 headache. I would love for a Turin representative to reach out to me to discuss options for troubleshooting or just returning, and hope this poor review gets me a head start in the process. One star out of a possible five, not an exaggeration, after giving it lots of thought the last two days. Not worth the time and money.
Replaced a cheaper plastic housed conical grinder with a DF54 and it made a world of a difference: practically no retention, even grind, no step in grind size adjustment makes it easy to dial in, easy to clean, substantial metal build and nice design. I've been using the DF54 for a few weeks now. Can't beat the price. Very happy.
Consistency is great. Ultra low retention. Simple and easy to use. Really upped my game.
The grinder works as expected, fits in my small set up, and looks great. Great output when I stir the beans with a wet teaspoon before dumping them in (to reduce static). Grinds come out within .1g of the original weight in beans. The pump seems really effective, too. Haven't cleaned it yet, but set up was easy, and I love the silicone holder for the cup below. It grips nicely without having to wait for something to "lock" in place. As a first time grinder and new to espresso, its been a very easy user experience.
