Turin DF54 Single Dose Flat Burr Grinder
Best pound for pound grinder
Although I've only had the DF54 grinder for a short time, so far I am very pleased with what appears to be very solid construction and a nice design of the grinder, and it seems to work great.
I needed to upgrade from an OXO grinder with my new Gaggia espresso machine coming. In my price range the value and function of this machine put it on another level from all the conical grinders. The reviews on Reddit and home-barista gave the machine a solid recommendation, but it’s new enough and not an Italian brand so I did wonder. After two weeks I can confirm that the design, quality and grind performance are excellent. The calibration was correct at point zero and I did check and adjust the upper burr with a couple bits of foil to dial in alignment. My goal was to make sure that my tools were not going to get in the way as I learned to make espresso, and the DF54 has been a superb choice so far. The bellows comes loose from the collar too easily for one-handed loading, but it’s a minor inconvenience. I would hope that small detail can be addressed in the future and the fix is made available to Gen 1 DF54 owners. Speaking of parts, I was also impressed that Turin has a full selection of parts available to cover any repairs or problems. That’s good,, because I intend to keep this machine a long, long time.
